Do you walk past blooming flowers on your hikes and think, What is that? Stop to smell the flowers and change the way you see nature on this one-day field course covering wildflower and plant identification. During this course, we will hike 4-7 miles gaining up to 1,500 feet of elevation over uneven terrain in the Sangre de Cristos from trailheads along Hyde Park Road. You will learn about the key tools for identifying plants, the diversity of habitats around Santa Fe, the basics of plant anatomy, how to identify common plants, and the biology of local plants. Students provide their own transportation, water, snacks, and lunch. Students should wear appropriate hiking attire. Walking sticks recommended.
