Introduction to West African Dance

Students will learn and develop core technique and principles of West African dances from Guinea. Class will begin with a thorough warm up to prepare the body. Fundamentals of African movement will follow with a clear breakdown of steps, moving into simple sequences. Songs and cultural context will be shared. Class will be accompanied by live drumming, promising an invigorating rhythmic experience for anyone who loves to dance.
