Required before taking class: Completion of Fiber Optic Technician Class. This 1-day, 8 hour fiber optic specialist course is designed for students who will be directly involved in installing Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Optics Cabling. The instructor will cover industry standards for installing, testing, and troubleshooting OSP fiber optics cable, focusing primarily on single mode OSP cable used in rugged outdoor environments. Students will learn to identify OSP fiber cabling types, recognize various outside plant closures used in OSP fiber installation, and develop skills in installing, preparing, terminating, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting OSP fiber cables to current standards. Combining lecture sessions with 85% hands-on activities, this training prepares students for the CFOS/O, OSP hands-on and written exams. For more information call: 505-428-1676.
