Introduction to Chess

Learn chess from square 1 in this beginner-friendly course! Start with the basic rules and progress to checkmates and tactics. You’ll gain the skills to read moves, write down your own, and prepare for your first tournament. The course also covers light strategy and opening principles, helping students get comfortable playing casually around Santa Fe. No experience is required. Classes include group instruction on a demo board, as well as 1-on-1 practice games to build your confidence and skills.
