A Gentle Introduction to Linguistics (AGIL) presents an entertaining step-by-step introduction to the science of language. We’ll use examples from English, Spanish, Arabic, Thai, and other world languages, as well as contributions from participants. AGIL topics cover the universal characteristics of all world languages. They include the origins of human speech and how we acquire it, sounds and grammatical structures, meaning and vocabulary, non-verbal communication, and variations within languages. Having new AGIL awareness will accelerate your progress in any foreign language class.
