Assemblage City

Work on small canvases using gesso, acrylic paint, and water-based adhesives to affix and arrange paper, cardboard, wood, found objects, and other 3-dimensional materials to create unique assemblage pieces. Explore various art media, including paint, markers, ink, string, tape, and cord, to assemble fragments and forms. Combine direct brushwork and mark-making to produce either abstract works or recognizable images, such as landscapes or masks. Demonstrations will cover minimalist techniques as well as bold, unrestricted approaches. This class offers a painterly take on 2-D/3-D sculpture, emphasizing creative play and inventive expression.
