Winter solstice in the seasonal cycle is a time for the seeds to rest and the shortest days to pass into the longer, a revered period for the Rio Grande Pueblos, a time for gratitude, celebration, and giving thanks. Each pueblo honors this time with their dances. In this class, you will learn about the cultural history of New Mexico, the petroglyphs of the region, and conclude with an introduction to the pueblo dances in recognition of the upcoming week of winter solstice dances.
