Hands On - Create Vivid Landscapes Using Soft Pastels

Soft pastel is a vivid, versatile, and forgiving medium. Pastel painting can be direct and immediate or complex with vibrating and sensuous color. The first session is focused on pastel techniques, which includes layering, mark making, color relationships using saturated and neutral colors, and lots of information and hands on exercises will be offered. In the second session, we will use pastel techniques to interpret photos and develop imaginative landscapes. We will not be copying the photos but will be using them as a jumping off point. This is the course for you if you are serious about learning how to create powerful pastel landscapes. In order to participate, students will need to buy the appropriate supplies.
