Introduction to West African Drumming

Students will learn and develop the language of drumming on the Djembe drum, played with hands, and Dundun drum, played with sticks. Traditional rhythms from Guinea will be introduced, with a breakdown of technique, accompaniments, and moving into simple arrangements. Songs, stories, and cultural context will be shared. Drums will be provided or you can bring your own. An energizing and fun experience for all levels.
