The Inner Eye — Explorations on Individuality and Artistic Expression

In this explorative drawing, painting, and mixed-media course, students will tap into the subject of personal identity. We will plumb personal, private, and subconscious responses to assignments and materials to further develop an “inner eye” or intuitive aesthetic. Class time will focus on studio practice through fun and interesting guided prompts, with encouraged sketchbook work throughout the duration of the course. Exercises are meant to expose inner sensibilities through material exploration, mark-making, and direct/personal observation. While we will focus on generating two-dimensional work, students can work across media, and may delve into three-dimensional explorations. All levels welcome.
