ClassGraphic New Mexico State Parks have begun beaver habitat enhancement projects in five of its mountain parks. Randy Bayliss, an engineer, explains how beavers will construct dams in parks and how the wetlands, ponds, and fishing will benefit from our beaver’s work. Learn how beavers have changed the West and improve biodiversity, alter hydrology, prevent soil loss and erosion, increase watershed storage, improve water quality, mitigate climate change, enrich ecosystems, and enhance resilience. Their dams and ponds create wetland habitat, which benefit waterfowl, fish, reptiles, and amphibians. Explore how beaver dams modulate flash floods, prevent erosion, and so much more
