Part lecture and part behind-the-scenes tour, this course will discuss the history of heritage arts in New Mexico through the lens of museums, art markets, and patrons. The Spanish Colonial Art Society's extensive collection will serve as a visual example of the influences, materials, and artists who contributed to creating the unique art forms still practiced in this state today. From tinwork to straw applique to lowriders, this will serve as a great introduction to the unique arts of New Mexico.
