Let’s go beyond conserving water and make our environments and our lives green, fertile, and productive. Working with nature to create oases in our own yards and communities can be done by tapping into the Earth’s natural resources and gifts. We can install simple rock structures to harvest storm water for erosion control and wildlife. We can design greywater systems to make the water we use in our homes go twice as far. All biomass can be turned into fertile soil by composting it and returning it to the land. See how Ampersand Sustainable Learning Center, a permaculture demonstration center, employs these simple techniques. This class introduces ways they have learned to treat water like the precious resource it is.
