Each class will start with a thorough warm-up incorporating yoga techniques to prepare the body, followed by fundamentals of African movement with clear breakdowns of steps. Simple sequencing and repetition of rhythms will help you build speed, memory, and familiarity with the movement's basic language. The cultural context of the dance and rhythm will be shared throughout the sessions.
