Course number : 4100007   ID : 142
« back to classes page
What is the role of poetry in a dark time? How can art be equal to injustice? Examine these questions by looking at the poems of a Russian poet and a Polish poet. Anna Akhmatova lived through the horrors of Stalinist Russia. Wislawa Szymborska lived through the Nazi invasion of Poland, World War II and communism. She won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1996. Whether you are a lover of poetry or unsure about it, you will gain an appreciation for great poetry. David Markwardt is a published poet and has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Poetry.
