THIS IS AN APPLICATION ONLY for Retrofit Installer Technician - TREC
FREE for NM residents.

This combined online and in-person course takes 48 hours to complete. 

The 8-hour online class covers information helpful to installers, from basic building science to air sealing, insulation, basic pressure diagnostics and more. The class is video based, so there is not a lot of reading needed. There are also lots of photos to identify correct and incorrect ways that work can be done. Assessments are done by short quizzes.

The in-person portion of the class is 40 hours (5-days) at our lab at the Santa Fe Community College. All hands-on activities are covered here, including air sealing, insulation, baseload measures and more. Assessments are done using rubrics for each task.

  • Be at least 18 years old by the program start date
  • Have a valid New Mexico driver's license and Social Security number.
  • Have a strong desire to learn a skilled trade and commit to the program's requirements and deadlines
