This workshop is for anyone who writes poetry or simply wants more expressiveness in their life. This 3 hour class explores the craft of speaking poetry aloud because a poem does not fully come alive until it is spoken. We begin with questions about how speaking feels pleasurable and satisfying. We'll look at the basics of how the voice works and how simple physiology helps explain vocal habits. You'll learn gentle exercises to help the voice open and relax before we dive into text. We use your own poems or old favorites for practice. We'll explore how to inhabit language with clarity, breath, and imaginative connection. Reawakening the pleasures of sound and sense is fun and satisfying for everyone.
